Dance Inset | Teacher Training For Schools

Star Steppers provide dance inset teacher and training sessions, showing teachers how to teach dance in schools. Many schools are using the Sports Premium funding to help develop and introduce more dance into the school day. By spending the money on training your existing members staff, rather than bringing in outside providers, you will build a longer term solution.

Teaching dance as part of the curriculum can seem daunting if you are not a dance specialist. Star Steppers Step into Education team offer practical dance workshops, schemes of work, lesson plans and resource ideas suitable for KS1- KS4.

The whole staff came away enthused, enlightened and exhausted!

We initially contacted Anna and Star steppers to provide a fun and different PE focussed staff meeting.  From the offset we could all tell that Anna was utterly talented and passionate about what she did. The whole staff came away from the staff meeting enthused, enlightened and exhausted! As a result of the successful staff meeting, Anna came back to Southfield Park to follow up with the staff regarding more technical aspects such as planning and subject knowledge. Again this was well received and of the highest quality.

Moving forward, the school decided to employ Anna to help utilise the school sports premium funding. Throughout she was approachable and flexible. She met with myself (PE co-ordinator), head-teacher and members of the SLT to ensure the package she could deliver was be-spoke to us and fitted the needs of the school and importantly the children. Thus, throughout the year she delivered tailored, exciting and cross curricular dance lessons that the teachers observed in order to upskill themselves and therefore meet the sustainability goals of the school sports premium. From reception to year 6, feedback I have had from the children and teachers has been superb and the scheme of work and resources she left us are first class.

Dance is now definitely helping to achieve the schools and national curriculum targets of ‘Healthy –active lifestyles’.  We look forward to working with Anna in the future to help new staff also benefit from such an enriching and creative programme.
