Frequently Asked Questions About Stoneleigh Star Steppers Classes…
Where do you recommend that I park?
The class is held at Meadow Primary School, and there are lots of places to park in the surrounding roads.
If my child attends Meadow Primary, do I need to collect them in between?
No, your child will be looked after between the end of the school day and the start of the Star Steppers class.
Is there an area that parents can wait during the classes?
Unfortunately there isn’t anywhere inside the school, where parents can wait during the class.
Do parents need to stay during the class?
Parents are very welcome to watch the first class, however thereafter the children are given the opportunity to create, play and perform in a focussed way, without parents watching them each week. It also allows us to stage open weeks and shows so that they are a surprise for the parents watching.
How many children are in the class?
We have recently divided the group into two, to improve class sizes and help to accommodate the various age groups who attend.
Is the class only open to children who attend Meadow Primary School?
No, lots of the children do attend Meadow Primary School but many come to us from other schools such as Cheam Common, West Ewell Infant School, Danetree Junior School and St Clements.
Do any boys go to this class?
Yes, quite a few boys come to the Stoneleigh classes.
Are there discounts for brothers and sisters?
Yes, siblings are given a discount.
What can they wear? Do they have to wear a uniform?
We ask that the children wear leggings or joggers with a t-shirt or vest and jazz shoes, trainers or plimsoles on their feet. Star Steppers t-shirts are £10.00, and members are asked to wear them for public performances.
How are fees paid?
Fees are paid half-termly, in blocks of roughly 6-7 weeks, according to school term-times. We send out invoices via e-mail and parents pay (preferably) online by BACS or we can also accept cash or cheque in class.
Are there any additional costs other than the class fee?
The end of term shows are included in the price of the class, and usually take place in the second to last class before the end of term. Every other year we put on a big Summer Show – it costs £25 per child, but this includes costumes, which they get to keep and helps to support the cost of props, special effects, music, lighting and sound etc. Children are at the theatre for the best part of two days.
